Saturday January 25th, HRJA kicked off the 2003 season with a trail ride in East Brady, PA. Twenty five Jeeps gathered at the boat launch beside the frozen Allegheny river to suit up for a fun filled day in the snow. Quite a few new faces were with us for this ride. Some with experience and some that have only had their Jeep in four wheel drive to make it home from work in the unusual amount of snow that we have had this winter.

This was the first trail ride with my new digital camera. I could not wait to see what kind of shots I would be able to get from it, trying different settings along the way. Unfortunately  I found that some of my pictures came out blurry, so for anyone that was on this ride and had a camera, please send your photos on over to me.

A few breaks occurred along the way, but everyone was able to make it out safe and sound. "Doc" on the first obstacle was able to somehow able to put his fan threw his radiator. After a little patch work, he was at least able to make it back down to the boat launch to await a truck and trailer to get him back home. Later in the day, Joe Ferro snapped his drivers side U-Joint while trying to make a hill climb. Two wheel drive would be the mode of travel for Joe the rest of the day, but he was able to make it out ok. The only other mishap that we had was Terry Hammerschmitt. While trying to make a log crossing that had gotten pretty icy, his TJ slid into a tree and put a good crinkle in the passenger side fender. Amazingly enough though, it did not break the parking light! If ANYONE has any pictures of Terry;s Jeep after the "Misshap" Please send them along. I did not get any, and Terry would really like to have one

We hope that everyone had a good time on this first run of the year, and hope to see everyone at the next one.
