With the blue sky above, and the temperature in the low seventies you could not have asked for a better day to ride the trails. Now I know that you are supposed to expect a problem here and there while you are hammering hard through the woods, but yours truly had a problem even before the four wheel drive shifter was thrown. I noticed a vibration on the way to Sligo and low and behold I had lost a U-joint. Greg Sickenberger and I made a quick run to the parts store down the road to get a new one. John and Ben Diccola grabbed their tools and went to work. Give Ben a few tools and a couple of rocks to use as wedges and look out! Kudos to you guy's for getting me back on the road. (or should I say off the road) After everyone had gathered at the Citgo, Rick West lead the drivers meeting. There were a lot of new faces , as well as some of the old ones. Darrin Myers lead the pack of about twenty jeeps as our trail guide for the day. This is Darrin's neck of the woods, and he knows it well.

Our first stop of the day was a great power line run. The opening to the lines, was a little tricky rock crawl down the left side of the boulder below. Not everyone decided to make the treck, but those that did had some fun on the large rocks at the bottom.

To make it back up to the top took some maneuvering and a little guidance over the rocky surface. Lockers seemed to be the key here, but almost everyone made it without a hitch. Those that could not, made it with a hitch from Rick at the top sporting his new winch. I think Rick had his fingers crossed that someone would not make it so he could try out the new toy. Great job Rick!

Is that moses??Mosses Kruse?? No wait....it's Ed Kruse attempting to lead the Jeeps out of the wilderness. While there was no parting of the seas, there was some departing from that area and on to the next.

Traveling down to the next trail, Darrin wanted to show us all a small wonder of mother nature created by a couple of VERY busy beavers. All of the sticks and limbs are positioned in a circle creating a lake like body of water. Very dam impressive!

We all moved into the first playground of the day. There were plenty of small hills and short mini trails right around the area that everyone could venture off and fool around on.

Now you know when there is a mix of water and dirt, someone has to try to drive through it. Note that I said "Try"Denise tried to tell Ed to check how deep it was!Good try Denise, but I think you better leave this one to the big boys!

Hmmmmmmmmmm

Ok, maybe not! This thing is like a bottomless pit!

After a break for lunch, it was on to the next romper room event! Mike and Bob found a hill they could not refuse!

Man that is a long way up!

Go Mike!

Our last stop of the day was the fish bowl. There was plenty of mud to go around!

No Mel! No mud inside!

Ummm...I think this is beyond the wipers!

Everyone had an absolute blast in Sligo! Thank you Darrin for leading through a wonderful day!
